This past Saturday, Feb. 22nd, was our monthly meeting of the Cricut Club. Every month we do some sort of project or mini class involving Cricut products in some way. This month I gave myself a challenge. In the past we have done box projects or a card of some sort. I wanted to include another aspect of crafting and make a two page layout for our scrapbooking members. The challenge to myself was to make that two page layout using nothing but the cartridges in the store library to make most of the embellishments, photo mats, title, etc. This was a big undertaking for me as I didn’t know where to even begin. Well, that all changed as I started to play with ideas and as I began it started to come together relatively quickly and easily.
Here are the two pages I came up with:
For the title I used the Type Candy Font cartridge. This cartridge had the best flow of the font that I was looking for. Using the Craft Room I then welded the letters together to make it easier to place. To adhere them to the page I used pop up foam to give the title and page some dimension.
For the corner embellishments I used the Happily Ever After cartridge and used the main icon image of Aurora Bedroom which also gave the detail cuts.
The photo mats, butterfly frame, and journaling mats were taken from the Elegant Edges cartridge.
And finally, the flowers. The flowers were found on our Ultimate Creative Sampler Cartridge. It was taken from the Blossoms cartridge I believe. The image was actually the layer image so I had to use real dial size to get the sizes I wanted without having to play around to get the right size. I started at 3 inches and went down 1/2 inch for each subsequent flower. The large one had a base of 3 inches with 4 flowers, the medium a base of 2 1/2 inches with 4 flowers and the small had a base of 2 inches with 3 flowers.
Then to add just a little bling and a little something, I added some double dot ribbon to the corners of the photo mats (each one about 4.5 inches) and emerald rhinestones as the dots to the “i’s” in the title and around the page.
And there you have it, with the exception of the rhinestones and ribbon, I made a two page layout using only in store cartridges. You would be amazed at some of the other ideas I thought of when looking through all the cartridges we had. Using one from this cartridge, a couple from that cartridge, and so on. Don’t limit yourself to just one cartridge for your projects, there is a lot out there.
This page went over well with scrapbookers and non-scrabookers alike so I have set the bar even higher. What am I going to do next time?
